On October 2, 2012 and October 4, 2012 The YABC Program at Herbert H. Lehman High School held its first Student Voter Registration event where 63 participants were able to become registered voters. Ms. Esmeralda Morales, a representative from the Board of Elections in Bronx County, came with her team to assist participants with the voter registration process; they answered inquiries that many participants had such as ?how do I vote?? and ?where do I vote??

During this event, students were also given the opportunity to apply for an Election Poll Worker position, as the Board of Elections is currently trying to get more youth involved in the election process. In addition to answering inquires, Ms. Morales and her team informed the participants about the new poll system that they will encounter when they go to vote, and briefly explained how to use the new system to cast their ballot. On November 6, 2012 our elated new registered voters will be able to vote in the 2012 Presidential Election and let their voices be heard.
